Birth Of ASCAP

Ninety-four years ago today, a group of musicians gathered at the Hotel Claridge in New York City and created the The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. The main purpose: To make sure composers were paid for their work, and that their rights were protected.

Not that this is a flawless system. Just ask Bo Diddley.
