Coming To The MFA: Ellsworth Kelly

Posted by Geoff Edgers March 28, 2008 12:17 PM

The Museum of Fine Arts is still a couple of years away from finishing its massive expansion. But Cheryl Brutvan, the museum's curator of contemporary art, let slip the other day her plans for the opening.

She's recruited Ellsworth Kelly for a solo show of his wood sculptures in the Foster Gallery.

“It’s pretty close to being certain," Brutvan said. "We don’t have a checklist together but we’re all in agreement that’s going to happen. We’re thrilled.”

  1. That could be a really special exhibition. I haven't been too thrilled by the MFA's programming--there are a lot of quality shows, especially in Asian art, but too much 19th century stuff and rather lackluster modern/contemporary exhibitions. A fresh take on Ellsworth Kelly could be just the thing to start the expanded museum off with some excitement.
