I'm in California this week, and decided to run a 10K in Santa Monica. It was a perfect day, I ran fast (for me), and headed to the pier to get my t-shirt and some free pancakes. But before I got to the party section, I stumbled upon Arlington West. From afar, I figured it was some kind of table set-up for one of the nearby restaurants or perhaps a wedding. When I got closer, the crosses came into view.

It's a startlingly simple idea, and makes you think - particularly in a region which also has an ocean that could serve as the backdrop of an installation canvas - how little we use our natural resources for art.
