Fred Knittle, 83

Posted by Geoff Edgers January 4, 2009 10:36 PM

I've never been a fan of Coldplay, but I am a fan of Fred Knittle. He's the man who, despite the challenges brought on by congestive heart failure, delivers that killer version of "Fix You" in the documentary about the senior singers in "Young@Heart". Why do I bring this up? Because Knittle died Jan. 1, a fact I wasn't aware of until getting a note from Mo Ringey. He spent much of his life in Northampton, where he worked at The Clarke School for the Deaf.

  1. Dearest sweet, hilarious Fred, “Look at the stars, See how they shine for you…”

Fred *owned* Coldplay with his rendition of that song. I think they should write a tribute song for him. But then, I think many an unreasonable thing.

Thanks Geoff! I hope everyone watches the video. I still cry every time.
