Tuesday catch-up

Questions are being raised about how much Joe Dowling, the longtime director of the Guthrie Theater, is paid.

Here's the most obvious news ever: Album sales are down, digital music is up.

In BIG RED & SHINY'S year end summary, I learned that the Rose would be freezing its search for a replacement for Rafaela Platow. Which originally came from Greg Cook.

Imagine, news about somebody in classical music being signed to a record deal. Deutsche Grammophon just sent out a release announcing an agreement with pianist Yuja Wang.

Her recording debut, coming out in February, will be called "Sonatas & Etudes" and feature sonatas by Chopin (“Funeral March”), Liszt (in B minor), and Scriabin (no. 2) — plus two Etudes by Ligeti.
