Significant Objects

Posted by Geoff Edgers July 13, 2009 11:36 AM

You may miss out on the JFK bust, but there's still time for the toy hot dog and necking team button? So bid. How much are these items worth? That's the mystery, one of many to discover in free-thinker and former Globie Josh Glenn's latest project, Significant Objects. Curators Glenn and Rob Walker are conducting an experiment very much related to their previous publications. The idea is to "examine" (their word) or "play with" (my words) the "manifold ways in which all of us, whether we realize it or not, invest inanimate objects with significance."

Glenn and Walker have recruited a whole slew of big brains for the project, including Stewart O’Nan, James Parker, and Kurt Andersen.
