Boston Lyric Opera announces season

announcements.pngBoston Lyric Opera's 2010-2011 season opens with the company's adaptation of Scottish Opera's production of Puccini's Tosca (Nov. 5-16) and is followed by Ullmann's The Emperor of Atlantis or Death Quits with the world premiere of a prologue by Richard Beaudoin (Feb. 1-6). A Glimmerglass Opera/New York City Opera production of Handelís Agrippina (March 11-22) comes next and the season wraps with a new BLO production of Brittenís A Midsummer Night's Dream (April 29-May 10).

Getty Give Back To Greece

Getty Director Michael Brand (below) agrees to return stolen items in the museum's collection after meeting with Greek officials.

The Saint Louis Art Museum's unwillingness to return a mummy mask to Egypt could land it in court.

Now, the big question: What would Malcolm do?

He's scheduled to meet with Italian officials tomorrow in Rome to discuss the accusations against the Museum of Fine Arts.

Anish Kapoor

Carol Vogel reports today that Anish Kapoor will create a sculpture at Rockefeller Center this fall. That's fine with us as long as Kapoor keeps his eyes on the real prizes, a planned project for MIT's List Center and his two shows (a group one in September, a solo exhibition in 2007) at the soon-to-open Institute of Contemporary Art.

More Neil Young - CSNY tour

So on top of his folk metal protest album, "Living With War," Neil Young's going to join up with David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash for what they're calling the Freedom of Speech tour. The local date is at the Tweeter Center on August 16.
