If you were thinking of checking out Elvis Costello's guest spot at next Wednesday's opening night Boston Pops concert - and don't already have tickets - it might be a good idea to look for other options. The Pops told us today the gig is sold out... even, apparently, though Elvis might end up doing this:
We know we should get out to the Fuller Craft Museum more often... particularly after seeing a few pictures from the Brockton museum's April 22, Elvis-themed fundraiser. Along with hauling in $65,000, the party might have actually been fun. There were peanut butter and banana sandwiches and this admirable homage to the king by Board Vice-President Paul Abbott. Anybody can grow sideburns, but Abbott embraces the mid-70s era Elvis, a man who knew no pair of shades could be too large.
And the Carmen Ball Auction continues... Bid on trips to Puerto Rico, Martha's Vineyard and California wine country, though we're most intrigued by the retired costume that's supposedly going up for bid soon. Please tell us it's the Mouse King.
Just in case you're counting, the Museum of Fine Arts tells us it now has $335 million of the $500 million it's looking to raise for its expansion project. Back at the MFA's November groundbreaking, that figure rested at $316 million.
