Also, there are excellent new characters, including Marcia Gay Harden’s First Amendment lawyer, Constance Zimmer’s tart Romney spokesperson, Grace Gummer’s reporter, and Hamish Linklater’s new “News Night” producer.

The Newsroom Sunday at 10 p.m., HBO

I’ve seen the first four episodes of the new season, and they’re totally annoying. Seriously, Aaron Sorkin is a brilliant writer, but his dialogue is too wordy and fast. No one in real life speaks like that, right?
