Dangerman: The Incredible Mr. Goodwin 10 p.m., BBC America

This scary, fascinating, and sometimes emotional new series about daredevil Jonathan Goodwin and the risks he takes—from knife-throwing tricks to dangling from a helicopter to holding a live scorpion in his mouth while someone slaps him—definitely makes it clear that these are definitely “don’t try this at home” propositions. Part Evel Knievel, part P.T. Barnum, part David Copperfield, “Dangerman” shows both the lengthy preparation and precise execution of each stunt. Admirably, it does not edit out when Goodwin fails to achieve his goal. Including footage of his family—including his wife and mother of his baby daughter—heightens the drama.
