Chelsea Handler’s eight-year run as host of “Chelsea Lately” will be coming to an end when her contract expires at the end of the year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires,” Handler’s manager Irving Azoff told THR. “She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.”
The controversial comedienne has been an open critic of the network, recently calling it “a sad, sad place to live” during an appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show.
While television powerhouses such as FX and Lionsgate are said to be courting Handler, the late night host also revealed on Stern that she would be open to joining a digital platform like Netflix.
Officials at E! have been silent over whether or not they will keep “Lately” on the air with a replacement host. Handler, however, has been vocal about finding another woman to take her place on the late night circuit.
“It’s just me. It’s been me for seven years,” Handler told Boston.com in an exclusive interview earlier this year. “If I can get another girl on the air with a late-night talk show, that would be my ultimate goal. And then she can replace me and I can go party in Barcelona.”
