They Say | Goldberg runs a hotel with her conservative brother and an Iranian assistant.
We Say | In an age of fangless TV humor, Whoopi's ethnic sendups should be refreshing. But will we ever be ready for one-liners about torture in the Persian Gulf? The season's only high-profile black characters are stuck in a low comedy.

They Say | Middle-age parents await an empty nest, but the kids just won't fly the coop.
We Say | Baranski's irresistible as the droll mother, and the terminally single daughter is mordant fun. Also a plus: no tacked-on moral lessons.

They Say | Estranged half-brothers, one a rich brat, the other a street-smart cutie, compete on the basketball courts. Which one will get the girl?
We Say | Does WB stand for We Brood? This is for teen-soap fans who still have room after "Everwood" and "Gilmore Girls."
