Last 'Raymond' draws 32.2m

LOS ANGELES -- More than 32 million viewers tuned in to bid farewell to ''Everybody Loves Raymond," as America's most-watched sitcom ended its celebrated nine-year run on CBS, Nielsen Media Research reported Tuesday.

The Emmy-winning show starring comedian Ray Romano bowed off the airwaves Monday with a regular half-hour episode centering on family hysterics that ensued when his character reluctantly underwent minor surgery.

The last show averaged 32.2 million viewers overall, the biggest audience in the show's history, according to preliminary Nielsen numbers.

An hourlong ''Raymond" retrospective preceding the finale drew nearly 24 million viewers.
