She’s just too darn Sarah for some. But she makes me laugh. Tonight, her series returns with the further adventures of her childlike heroine, who gets tangled up with a militant anti-abortion group. Hey, she likes their lemon squares.

This new series is a soapy drama, as it chronicles the messy problems of the wealthy Darling family and the woes of their idealistic lawyer, played by Peter Krause. But it also has shades of "Arrested Development," since the Darlings are so frenetically nuts. If it stays good, this show could be the season's surprise hit.

What should he take for his inability to kill? Die-agra.

In Joshua Marston's emotionally stressful first film, a 17-year-old (Catalina Sandina Moreno, above, who's excellent) transports little bags of heroin from Colombia to New York in her stomach. As things go nightmarishly wrong, the movie achieves a power that doesn't announce itself until it's over. In Spanish, with subtitles. (R; runs on HBO through Oct. 28) - Wesley Morris
