The Lookout

A modestly effective thriller about a lost boy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, from "Brick") who falls in with a nasty pack of bank robbers. The first film directed by established screenwriter Scott Frank ("Minority Report"), it promises minor pleasures and delivers them, graciously kicking in extras like a big slice of ham from supporting actor Jeff Daniels. (R; runs through Dec. 12) - Ty Burr
