Car talk
NOVA: Car of the Future
8 p.m., Channel 2
Tom and Ray Magliozzi, of NPR's "Car Talk," appear in this sometimes-silly, sometimes-sober documentary about the technology that could (eventually) make cars cleaner, safer, and more fuel-efficient. Extra points if you can figure out which is Click and which is Clack.

Saturday Night Live: The Best of Chris Farley
8:30 p.m., Channel 7
He's still missed. But I'm ready for the Best of Kristen Wiig.

American Idol
8 p.m., Channel 25
What is "American Idol" without Kristy Lee Cook? Freedom fries without the grease? A cheesesteak without the Cheez Whiz?

Law and Order: SVU
10 p.m., Channel 7
Bill Pullman guest-stars as a love interest for Benson. He's a member of the news media, which in TV terms means he's up to no good.

Shot at Love with Tila Tequila
10 p.m., MTV
Will she finally cause the downfall of Western Civilization? Tune in.

COLD CASE
The Alaska Experiment
10 p.m, Discovery
This eight-part Discovery Channel series, which premieres tonight, sounds a bit like "Survivor" in the cold, except no Jeff Probst and no torch ceremony. Here the enemy is nature. I'd rather take on another oddly-named tribe.

Work Out
10 p.m., Bravo
Jackie takes the female trainers on a lesbian cruise, but doesn't invite her girlfriend. Sounds like she needs etiquette boot camp.

ON DEMAND
Beyond the Mat
Comcast, Encore
This absorbing documentary dishes up the glitz of the spectacle-oriented superbiz wrestling has become, then hooks us with portraits of three of its practitioners, Terry Funk, Mike Foley, and Jake "The Snake" Roberts. (R; runs through May 1)
