The story of the Lafayette Escadrille - the American squadron that flew for France in World War I - has been turned into a high-altitude epic that repackages every aerial cliche in the playbook for an audience coming to them for the first time. The movie's straightforward and ingratiating, though, and as pretty-boy history lessons go, it's a lot less obnoxious than "Pearl Harbor." Starring James Franco.
