NEED FOR SPEED
Speed Racer: The Next Generation
7 p.m.,

Nicktoons

Nicktoons airs this 90-minute cartoon premiere just in time to tie in with the live-action film. Tonight, we get the origin story, in which an orphan named Speed starts to study at Racer Academy, and figures out how to build a really rad car. (It's got a gasless engine, too. Environmentalists, take note.)

The Disney Royal Treatment
9 p.m., Travel

I can understand having a kid's birthday party at Disney World, but a wedding?

Battlestar Galactica
10 p.m. SciFi

Stuck on a sewage-treatment ship with a leader who's going insane? I'd rather be a Cylon.

Glamour's 50 Biggest Fashion Do's and Don'ts
10 p.m. Style

Otherwise known as the Britney Spears Schadenfreude Hour.

ON DEMAND
Muppets From Space
Comcast, HBO

Gonzo finds out he's part of a species from another planet in this very entertaining outing featuring Kermit, Miss Piggy (above with Andie MacDowell), and their fuzzy friends. A sassy and surreal sense of humor and a '70s funk soundtrack make this movie not just for kids. Jeffrey Tambor is wonderful as the bad guy, a government bureaucrat alarmed at what he thinks is an impending alien invasion. (G; runs through May 11)

Man vs. Wild
9 p.m. Discovery

New episodes are back as Bear Grylls (above), the British explorer with the self-aggrandizing streak, meets up with crocodiles, hippos, and a herd of elephants in the wilds of Zambia. And Discovery swears he's far from those hotels, highways, and blueberry pancakes that once got him into so much trouble.
