PENULTIMATE ROUND
American Idol
8 p.m., Channel 25
The longest season ever? It certainly has felt like it. I think the auditions went on too long this time, because now I’m ready to get my weeknight life back (i.e. watch other shows). In the penultimate round, the three finalists perform. I’m assuming the series will come down to a duel of the Davids.

Britney's Secret Childhood
8 p.m., VH1
What's this, VH1: ultrasound pictures?

Women's Murder Club
10 p.m., Channel 5
Just a few ladies sitting around sipping red rum.

Beverly Hillbillies
9:30 p.m., TV Land
Pick of the night: Jethro and Elly May become beatniks.

PEAK OF TRAGEDY
Storm Over Everest
9 p.m., Channel 2
This new episode of "Frontline" looks back at the May 1996 storm that trapped three climbing teams on Mount Everest and took eight lives. Filmmaker David Breashears, a climber who aided the rescue efforts back in 1996, returns to Everest to recount the tragedy and interview some of those who survived the storm. Jon Krakauer chronicled the same ordeal in "Into Thin Air."

Shark
9 p.m., Channel 4
Dragging out the Hef for another cameo.

Reaper
9 p.m., Channel 56
There's a leak in Hell. Maybe that explains, you know, Posh?

Terminator 2: Judgment Day
AMC
Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't as much fun playing a good Terminator as he was playing a bad one. And you'd think that after seeing that bullets don't work on the scary new hot-off-the-lot model sent to hunt him down, he and Linda Hamilton would stop shooting. Lots of costly bang-bang here, a few adrenaline rushes and great special effects, but this one can't match the crisp dark wit of the original. (R)
