THS Investigates 8 p.m., E!
Oh sure, "The E! True Hollywood Story" is in-depth and serious. But the spin-off series "THS Investigates" is, like, 10 times more so. Lottery winners who've gone bankrupt, women who killed their husbands -- this show exposes them in all their disgrace and sorrow. Tonight's gloat: gamblers who've won and lost big-time in Las Vegas.

This 1994 movie is a decent - if not fully fab - fictionalization of the early Beatles. Ian Hart (left) is uncanny as John Lennon, and Stephen Dorff figures prominently as Stuart Sutcliffe, the guy who left the Beatles to pursue love and art. The energetic Beatles music is performed by a band including Mike Mills of R.E.M., Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum, and Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters.

8 p.m., National Geographic
An overprotective collie. Lassie's a soccer mom.

9 p.m., Channel 2
You won't be sorry.

Lightweight but charming fable of senses liberated in a repressed French town in the 1950s. Juliette Binoche (above) moves in and opens up a chocolate shop; Alfred Molina's killjoy hasn't got a chance, even before she teams up with Judi Dench and Lena Olin. Yummy, non-caloric, and irresistible - fighting it is like fighting mousse.(PG-13; runs through June 19)
