Thank yew
The Closer
9 p.m., TNT
After a nine-hour marathon of repeats beginning at noon, the show is back for a fourth season. Which, in the middle of a pretty fallow TV summer, is a very good thing indeed. Of course, "The Closer" rests on Kyra Sedgwick's shoulders as Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, the lady with the unique Southern accent. But the show is also a consistently good police procedural, with cases that are a lot smarter than those the "Law & Order" shows deliver these days.

Verminators
10 p.m., Discovery Channel
Mickey! Minnie! Nooo!

The Bachelorette: Engagement Party
8 p.m., Channel 5
Reality couples don't get cold feet. They get merger apprehension.

Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods
10 p.m., MTV
And then they'll search for Jakes?

ECO BURP
Emeril Green
8 p.m., Planet Green
Celebrity chef and failed sitcom star Emeril Lagasse hosts this new series about how to make healthy, organic, and eco-friendly dishes. Frankly, the show sounds dangerously infomercial-like, since it will be shot on location at a particular market whose name I've wholly decided not to mention here. Emeril will be making meatless meatloafs and flourless angel food cakes.

Elvis Mitchell: Under the Influence
8 p.m., TCM
Bill Murray talks all about his divorce. Not.

Saving Grace
10 p.m., TNT
Holy Holly.

ON DEMAND
Mo' Better Blues
Encore on Demand
Spike Lee has trouble slowing down and Denzell Washington has trouble speeding up in this rich-looking and emotionally generous but also wildly uneven outing about a selfish jazz trumpeter who learns some hard lessons. (R; runs through Aug. 14)
