Sweet Smell of Success
10:15 p.m., TCM
Back when gossip columnists and publicists were separate people.

Shear Genius
10 p.m., Bravo
This end won't be split.

America's Got Talent
8 p.m., Channel 7
The D.N.C. for the D.A.F.T.

BIGGEST HOAX EVER?
Mythbusters
9 p.m., Discovery Channel
The July 1969 lunar landing - was it staged? Did NASA fake out the world? The "Mythbusters" team devotes an hour tonight to that possibility. How can a flag flap on the moon when there is no wind? How could light from the sun cast unparallel shadows? If you saw "Wag the Dog," you get the idea.

I Want to Work for Diddy
10 p.m., VH1
But I don't do egos.

Clean House
10 p.m., Style
A mother, her son, his dirty socks.

ON DEMAND
Curse of the Golden Flower
Comcast, Encore Zhang Yimou's new movie looks as ravishing as his other two martial-arts epics, "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers." This one stars Chow Yun-Fat as a 10th-century emperor and Gong Li (above, center) as the wife he's poisoning. In this vapid spectacular, everything is gorgeous-looking, but the hugeness of the emotions makes it all feel counterfeit. In Mandarin, with subtitles. (R; runs through Sept. 4) - Wesley Morris

Democratic National Convention

The coverage continues all over cable, as well as on ABC, NBC, and CBS at 10 p.m. Vice presidential nominee Joe Biden (above) will be the headliner, but former President Bill Clinton will be interesting, too. Also on hand: John Kerry, Tom Daschle, Harry Reid, and Bill Richardson.
