Grey's Anatomy
9 p.m., Channel 5Mer-Der most foul? Or fair? Meredith and Derek are back together as the show returns. But I'm more interested in the arrival of Kevin McKidd (above right) as the new doc in town who may have a thang with Dr. Yang. McKidd, whose "Journeyman" didn't survive on NBC, was unforgettable in the HBO series "Rome," as centurion Lucius Vorenus.
ER
10 p.m., Channel 7The season starts with the aftermath of an explosion. Some things never change.
Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden
8 p.m., Channel 4So let's get some camera equipment there fast.
Collapse: When Structures Fail
10 p.m., Discovery ChannelBridges, not bonds.
THE LIST REVISITED
My Name Is Earl
8 and 8:30 p.m., Channel 7Back to the list. In the season premiere, Earl has to help a guy make a movie about a giant squid in which Randy plays the president. The guy is a make-a-wish kid who grew up, and he is played by Seth Green, so insanity ensues. I often forget about "Earl," but I miss Randy and plan to make a return visit.
Ugly Betty
8 p.m., Channel 5Pop Iggy gets a new job.
The Sarah Silverman Program
10:30 p.m., Comedy CentralShe licks her dog's rear. And that's why I love this show.
ON DEMAND
