A Face in the Crowd 8 p.m., TCM
This 1957 Elia Kazan movie is one of my favorite oldies. It's a prescient classic. Like "Sweet Smell of Success," "Network," "Nashville," and "The King of Comedy," it is uncannily contemporary in the way it explores the dark side of fame and the media. Plus, Andy Griffith, that icon of folksy Americana and Sunday morning moralism, gets to show his ugly side. Pictured: Griffith with Patricia Neal.

Saturday Night Live 11:30 p.m., Channel 7
Ben Affleck is hosting "SNL" for the fourth time tonight, which is the last live episode before the election. Will either of the candidates show up? David Cook, winner of that other election, will be the musical guest. Alas, new mom Amy Poehler is out of the picture.

17 Kids and Counting 8 and 8:30 p.m., TLC
Counting on the lottery, I presume.

Amazon's Deadly Dozen 8 p.m., National Geographic
Brigitte Nielsen is among them, no doubt.

Divine Design 9:30 p.m., HGTV
Sorry, I still believe in the natural selection of home layout.

Knight Rider 8 and 9 p.m., Channel 7
Night waster.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation 9 p.m., Spike
Classic: The human werewolf syndrome episode.
