How I Met Your Mother 8:30 p.m., Channel 4
After loving Alyson Hannigan (above) as Willow for years on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," I initially found her acting on this sitcom kind of forced. She seemed so out of breath trying to deliver her lines quickly. But I've come to love her as part of this ensemble, breathiness and all. She and Jason Segel have a very sweet chemistry as Lily and Marshall, but her Lily can also be tart and raunchy. Tonight, the couple discuss having a baby, which just happens to coincide with Hannigan's real-life pregnancy.

The Brain 9 p.m., History Channel
I know, I know, you're thinking this is the story of my life. But no, it's a look at how doctors and scientists are now able to study the brain in detail, and how those techniques have evolved over the years.
