DAN IN REAL LIFE

(Starz on Comcast) A "quality" film without much of a spine.

Steve Carell plays an advice columnist who takes his three daughters to a family gathering where he meets the woman of his dreams (Juliette Binoche, above with Carell). Unfortunately, she's his brother's (Dane Cook) girlfriend. Every time the movie catches something true about human behavior, director/co-writer Peter Hedges sands off the edges with glibness. Costarring Dianne Wiest and John Mahoney. (PG-13; runs through Nov. 20)

TY BURR

DELIRIOUS

(Starz on Comcast) John Candy is a soap-opera writer who gets stuck in his show after an accident. The spoofing of soap melodrama is fun, but the movie begins to wander and the sight gags get tiring. (PG; runs through Nov. 20)

INTERVIEW

(Starz on Comcast) An actress (Sienna Miller) and a journalist (Steve Buscemi, who also directed) sit down for a long night of soul-baring, substance abuse, and psychological gamesmanship. A talky but fascinating two-hander, it's an ultimately pointless exercise but blisteringly well-acted for all that. A remake of the 2003 film of the same name by the murdered Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh. (R; runs through Nov. 20) TY BURR
