The Tonight Show With Jay Leno 11:35 p.m., Channel 7

If you saw the last Kennedy Center Honors, you have to remember Bettye LaVette. She blew the house away with her version of the Who's "Love, Reign O'er Me." She's a powerhouse of a soul singer who means every single thing she sings, and she is one of the few people who can actually make me look forward to watching Leno. Also on tonight: Bob Newhart and Rachel Maddow.

America 9 p.m., Lifetime

This social-issue drama follows a 17-year-old foster kid named America, who is about to age out of the system. Rosie O'Donnell, who co-wrote and produced, does a decent job playing the tough-loving therapist, but the movie belongs to newcomer Philip Johnson as America. Without sentimentality, he makes this numbed-out, mistreated kid into a hero. Ruby Dee is also in the cast, as his foster mother.

Nip/Tuck 10 p.m., FX

Tonight, Liz and Christian's wedding. Toaster oven: revoked.

Estate of Panic 10 p.m., Sci Fi

Formerly d/b/a "The Fourth Estate."

Thelma & Louise 8 p.m., AMC

Birds fly. Thunderbirds don't.

The Andy Griffith Show 9 p.m., TV Land

Howard and Millie get engaged. I feel so modern and tainted.

Homeland Security, USA 8 p.m., Channel 5
