Better Off Ted 8:30 p.m., Channel 5
This promising new sitcom was created by Victor Fresco, the guy who made "Andy Richter Controls the Universe." And, like that too-quickly-canceled gem, it is an ironic workplace comedy set in a dehumanizing corporation. Give it a try, if you like the way "30 Rock" and "The Office" make fun of bureaucracy. "Better Off Ted" could develop into a rich comedy - if it doesn't get canceled too quickly.
King Lear 8 p.m., Channel 2 It's based on a play by the same author who wrote the play that the movie "10 Things I Hate About You" was based on. And it stars the actor who played Gandalf in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Sounds like blockbuster TV from PBS. Lie to Me 8 p.m., Channel 25 Lightman is heavy, man. Heroin Nation 9 p.m., Discovery Channel Under nod. Lost 9 p.m., Channel 5 Yeah, well your mother has Linus eyes. Spectacle: Elvis Costello With . . . 9 p.m., Sundance Channel J.T. Scrubs 8 p.m., Channel 5 J.D. ![]()
