Out of the Wild: The Alaska Experiment 10 p.m., Discovery Channel

Would I mention this docu-series simply as an excuse to once again grieve the lack of respect paid to Sean Penn's "Into the Wild"? No, I just wouldn't do that. The "Out of the Wild" group of travelers have undergone hard work, cold temperatures, and hunger in Alaska. Tonight, they talk about returning to civilization - you know, that place where urinating by a path is generally considered not OK.

High Noon 8 p.m., TCM

This is one of those beautifully shot movies that has become a much-referred-to classic, despite its flaws. For me, Oscar winner Gary Cooper is unforgettable as Marshall Will Kane, who awaits a gang of bad guys in real time. And the script is filled with ideas and comments about cowardice, heroism, passivity, and raw force. Yup, lots of wartime metaphors to play around with.

Deadliest Catch 9 p.m., Discovery Channel

Icy seas. Say it.

Venom 911 9 p.m., Animal Planet

A pygmy rattler. Cute!

Mental 9 p.m., Channel 25

A catatonic writer. A TV critic, I suppose. David Carradine guests.

House 8 p.m., Channel 25

Thirteen plus one.

The 20 Most Horrifying Hollywood Murders 8 p.m., E!

Gotta love that exclamation point.
