American Masters 8 p.m., Channel 2

This 90-minute episode focuses on Garrison Keillor, raconteur, poet, populist, and philosopher. The guy has an amazing mind, even if you’re not drawn to his “A Prairie Home Companion’’ wit. “Garrison Keillor: The Man on the Radio in the Red Shoes’’ travels across the country for a year with Keillor and his crew of actors, musicians, and techies.

Starting Out in the Evening 8 p.m., Sundance Channel Frank Langella really shines in this beautifully realized independent movie from 2007. He plays a reserved older novelist whose work is out of fashion; Lauren Ambrose, from “Six Feet Under,’’ plays a graduate student who wants to revive reader interest in him. Worlds, personalities, and literary ideals all clash, subtly and intimately. Lili Taylor also stars in this gem. Gridiron Gang 8 p.m., FX Rock with you. Jaws 10 p.m., HBO2 You are not alone. Extreme Wild Parties 8 p.m., Travel Channel Burn this disco out. So You Think You Can Dance 8 p.m., Channel 25 Blood on the dance floor. The Philanthropist 10 p.m., Channel 7 We are the world.
