The Great Debate 10 p.m., VH1
In this new series, some very, very important questions of our time will get full consideration. Which alien is better, Alf or E.T.? Which blockbuster is tops, “Jurassic Park’’ or “Titanic’’? And that eternal conundrum, Jessica versus Ashlee? Somehow, I don’t think this show plans to address the VH1 versus E! question.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List 10 p.m., Bravo
Anyone who’s anyone has a book deal. Don’t think Kathy hasn’t noticed that. So she decides to get all literary on us, puts on her best Algonquin outfit, and pays a visit to the editors at Random House. “I have not read a book since last week’s Us Weekly,’’ she tells them.
