THE WRESTLER
(Comcast Movies and Events) Darren Aronofsky’s film is a character study, yet it’s open-ended enough to function as many things, including the resuscitation of Mickey Rourke, actor. Rourke is touching as a former pro wrestling superstar trying to make it in the real world. With Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. (R; runs through Oct. 25) TY BURR

ALONG CAME A SPIDER
(Comcast Movies and Events) Efficient but pedestrian thriller. It extends the series based on James Patterson’s novels starring Morgan Freeman as D.C. cop Alex Cross, this time in a duel of wits with a kidnapper. Freeman is the only reason for seeing it - he knows how to make the camera come to him, he says more when he isn’t speaking than when he is - but he’s underutilized. (R; runs through July 9)
