Nurse Jackie 10:30 p.m., Showtime

Judith Ivey steals this episode as Paula, a dying nurse who, as she puts it, wants “to go out a little sooner rather than later.’’ Maybe she’ll get a best-guest Emmy nod? Indeed, I hope the regular cast members - Eve Best, Paul Schulze, Peter Facinelli, Merritt Wever, and, of course, Edie Falco (above left, with Ivey) - get some award recognition when the silly season returns. Only Anna Deavere Smith, as the hospital administrator, is too broad for my taste.

Teddy: In His Own Words 9 p.m., HBO

This documentary tells Ted Kennedy’s life story using Kennedy’s voice. Produced by Peter Kunhardt and Sheila Nevins, the 90-minute movie takes its narrative from interviews, home movies, speeches, and archival footage. (Review, next page)
