Nurse Jackie 10:30 p.m., Showtime

Have you been watching this excellent series? It’s smaller than an hourlong drama - each episode clocks in at a half-hour - but it packs a punch. Last week’s episode featured an excruciating scene in which Jackie, played by Edie Falco, broke her own finger with a hammer to explain to her husband why she’d had her wedding ring removed. It was the kind of scene that defined Jackie’s character - self-destructive, broken, duplicitous, brave.

An American Crime 8 p.m., TMC

This is one of the most disturbing TV movies I’ve seen. Originally on Showtime, “An American Crime’’ is strictly for students of the darkest side of human nature. Catherine Keener stars as a woman who, along with her children, imprisons and abuses a teen played by Ellen Page (“Juno’’). James Franco and Bradley Whitford are also in the movie, which is based on a true story. Pictured (from left): Page and Keener.

Clash of the Gods 10 p.m., History Channel

Hades: He’s that god.

Intervention 9 p.m., A&E

She’s that drug addict.

Great American Road Trip 8 p.m., Channel 7

This is that summer show.

Dating in the Dark 9 p.m., Channel 5

They’re those singles.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 9 p.m., TLC

Are you that demographic?
