Glee 8:58 p.m., Channel 25

I loved this pilot, which Fox is reairing tonight in anticipation of next week’s season premiere. The show is from Ryan Murphy, and it mixes a dash of the cynicism of his “Nip/Tuck’’ with the teen song-and-dance of “Hairspray.’’ The episode shows how an idealistic high school teacher named Will assembles a few misfits to revive the glee club. Each character has potential, not least of all Jessalyn Gilsig as Will’s Pottery Barn-obsessed wife. And Fox is promising a “director’s cut’’ tonight, with deleted scenes.

American Masters 8 p.m., Channel 2

This episode of the series looks at Dalton Trumbo (1905-76), a Hollywood screenwriter and novelist who refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1947. Trumbo (above) spent 11 months in prison, and proceeded to write under pseudonyms. Among his works: “Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo,’’ “Roman Holiday,’’ “The Brave One,’’ “Spartacus,’’ and “Hawaii.’’
