VH1 Divas 9 p.m., VH1

At this point, if you asked the folks at VH1 to define “diva,’’ they’d probably say “any female singer.’’ The annual concert, which returns after a five-year hiatus, will feature Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis, Adele, and Miley Cyrus, none of whom seems particularly diva-like to me. Indeed, the only person on the show who might qualify is Paula Abdul, who’ll be performing hosting duties.

Parks and Recreation 8:30 p.m., Channel 7

I am encouraged by the season premiere of Amy Poehler’s sitcom, which airs tonight. The writers are closer to finding the show’s identity, and it seems to be in the inadvertent triumphs - rather than the inevitable failures - of Poehler’s Leslie. Tonight, Leslie stumbles into a new role as a local gay icon.

Vampire Diaries 8 p.m., Channel 56

Tonight, dear diary, I let him give me a hickey.
