THE WATER HORSE: LEGEND OF THE DEEP
(Encore on Comcast) A boy befriends a baby Loch Ness Monster during World War II. It’s “E.T.’’ moved underwater and choreographed by the Scottish Tourist Board, but your kids will like the computer-generated beastie as he grows from wee to plesiosaur-size, and grown-ups can rely on Emily Watson (as mom) and Brian Cox (as the narrator). Starring Alex Etel (“Millions’’); directed by Jay Russell (“My Dog Skip’’). (PG; runs through Oct. 29)

AN AMERICAN CAROL
(Comcast Movies and Events) A rare bird: a conservative Hollywood comedy. The Scrooge here is lefty documentarian Michael Malone (Kevin Farley), who wants to abolish July Fourth until the spirits of JFK, Patton, and George Washington show him the error of his ways. Director David Zucker (“Airplane!’’) aims some decent ribald slapstick at liberal sacred cows, but his targets are lazier than they ought to be and the lectures are nonstop.
