Glee 9 p.m., Channel 25

One of the benefits of this show is getting to see more of Jessalyn Gilsig, who plays Will’s lying, selfish, not-pregnant wife. Her breakthrough role was as a meek teacher on “Boston Public,’’ but she’s always at her best when she’s playing mean and twisted, as she did on “Nip/Tuck.’’ Perhaps you remember her? She was Christian’s borderline, sex-addicted, bulimic ex who fell off a roof while having sex with him.

Modern Family 9 p.m., Channel 5

This comedy has passed the first sitcom test with flying colors. The second episode, last week, was as promising as the pilot. Too often, quality seriously plummets after a series premiere. I loved the way Ed O’Neill (above) protected his stepson from disappointment, as well as Cam’s emotional response to a put-down of Meryl Streep. More, please.

Cougar Town 9:30 p.m., Channel 5

Courteney Cox is pretending she can move her face.

Hank 8 p.m., Channel 5

Kelsey Grammer is Frasier no matter how hard he tries.

Law & Order: SVU 9 p.m., Channel 7

Stephen Rea is playing the lying game.

Biography 8 p.m., Biography Channel

Sarah Silverman is magic.

CSI: NY 10 p.m., Channel 4

Skeet Ulrich is a scream as a serial killer.
