CJ7
(Encore on Comcast) If more American parents took their kids to Hong Kong-style family-friendly sci-fi flicks (subtitles, shmubtitles), Xu Jiao would be a star. In Stephen Chow’s magic-toy farce, she plays a boy in a love-hate relationship with his otherworldly pet critter. This is basically Chow’s exclamatory tribute to “E.T.’’ But it’s Spielberg by way of Nintendo, with Chow himself as dad. In Mandarin, with subtitles. (PG; runs through Dec. 3) WESLEY MORRIS

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
(Encore on Comcast) Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson, in the high noon of their careers, are ideal as Shakespeare’s strong, witty adult lovers, Beatrice and Benedick. Branagh’s setting of the film in a Tuscan villa bathes the comedy in heady, summery sensuality. (Unrated; runs through Dec. 3)

ROVING MARS
(Comcast Movies and Events) Roving Mars footage of building and testing the Spirit and Opportunity Mars Exploration Rovers is mixed with footage the robots shot on the Martian surface. Impressive digital animation depicts the journey, but viewers can’t always be sure which images are real and which are special effects. (G; runs through Dec. 31) ETHAN GILSDORF
