GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST
(Comcast Movies and Events) Matthew McConaughey completes his transformation into the George Hamilton of his generation in a Scrooge revamp with marriage in place of Christmas and a hero who’s a womanizing cad shown the error of his ways by three spirits. Jennifer Garner (above, with McConaughey) and Michael Douglas costar. (PG-13; runs through Feb. 16) TY BURR

WORLD’S GREATEST DAD
(Comcast Movies and Events) In Bobcat Goldthwait’s black comedy, Robin Williams plays a failed writer who makes his son’s death look like a suicide. The death bestows popularity on both the boy and his father. As satire, the movie is half-hearted. It’s unsure how badly it wants to be in bad taste. But there is one wonderful sequence that’s like a very good music video and a handful of decent performances, notably from Daryl Sabara, who plays the son. (R; runs through Oct. 26) WESLEY MORRIS

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU
(Encore on Comcast) Surprisingly witty and refreshing transfer of Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew’’ to an American high school. It works because there’s no taming and no shrew. Julia Stiles’s Kate is a smart maverick with an icepick tongue. Heath Ledger’s cool loner Petruchio never tries to muscle her, but wins her with sensitivity and a Gene Kelly dance routine. (PG-13; runs through Dec. 3)
