CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON
(Comcast Free Movies) Ang Lee’s magical idealization of a legendary Chinese warrior film takes the martial arts genre to a new level, seeming to repeal the law of gravity in doing so. It’s lyrical and exhilarating, with standout performances from Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh as seasoned warriors and Zhang Ziyi (above) as the next generation’s hope. Yuen Wo-Ping, the genius who choreographed “The Matrix’’ and put the pep in the step of Jackie Chan and Jet Li, makes this a soaringly entertaining film. (PG-13; runs through Nov. 10)

THE BRAVE ONE
(HBO on Comcast) Or, as it will probably be called in Martin Scorsese’s house, “Taxi Driver Lite.’’ Jodie Foster plays a New York City radio talk show host who goes on a vigilante bender when she and her boyfriend are assaulted. This is not just another Jodie Foster picture. It is the ultimate Jodie Foster picture, an entertaining if absurd walking tour of a movie star’s psyche and persona. Directed by Neil Jordan. With Terrence Howard as the man on Foster’s trail. (R; runs through Nov. 9) WESLEY MORRIS

THE DOORS
(HBO on Comcast) Val Kilmer uncannily embodies doom junkie Jim Morrison and even sings some of the songs. Oliver Stone’s strong coming-at-you film captures the acid rock freakouts of the ’60s and their bummed-out aftermath. (R; runs through Nov. 9)
