SWEET HOME ALABAMA
(Comcast Movies and Events) Will the parties responsible for kidnapping Reese Witherspoon and putting a grinning replicant in her place please bring her back? A chicken-fried torn-between-two-lovers romantic comedy selling a vision of the deep South that would seem shallow in a beer commercial, “Alabama’’ was a neutered step backward for the star who made “Election’’ and “Legally Blonde’’ before it. Pictured (from left): Witherspoon, Patrick Dempsey, and Candice Bergen. (PG-13; runs through Nov. 13) TY BURR

TERMS OF ENDEARMENT
(Comcast Movies and Events) You’ve got to be strong to be loved by the kind of mother Shirley MacLaine plays. Debra Winger, Hollywood’s funky darling of the ’80s, is. And Jack Nicholson makes underplaying seem devilishly virtuosic as the ex-astronaut MacLaine allows to romance her. This comedy of loving, built around a mother-daughter relationship, won the Academy Award as Best Picture of 1983. (PG; runs through Nov. 13)

TOP GUN
(Comcast Movies and Events) Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis aren’t as hot as the jet engines in director Tony Scott’s recruiting film for the US Navy. (PG; runs through Nov. 13)
