THE CLASS
(Comcast Movies and Events) In Laurent Cantet’s improvised drama, we are plunked into a Paris public school that has spun beyond control. Not in the way Hollywood has conditioned us to recognize, but from within. Over the course of a school year, we see how the school system disserves education and greatly enables it. In French, with subtitles. (Unrated; runs through Dec. 10) WESLEY MORRIS

POINT OF NO RETURN
(Encore on Comcast) Bridget Fonda is better than her role in this remake of the French thriller “La Femme Nikita.’’ It’s more sentimental and has less visual edge than the original. Fonda’s more fun punked-out and antisocial than she is as a woman who craves love. (R; runs through Dec. 10)

PROJECT X
(Encore on Comcast) Matthew Broderick, as an Air Force lab assistant, talks to the animals, especially a chimp named Virgil. This pro-animal-rights film, which centers around Broderick’s efforts to keep the chimp from being zapped by a dangerous experiment, is appealingly gentle, but ultimately too tame. (PG; runs through Dec. 10)
