For some reason, “SNL’’ is having Kristen Wiig host the holiday compilation episode as Gilly, the schoolgirl with the sly expression. The two-hour special will feature old sketches (no doubt Alec Baldwin’s “Schweddy Balls’’) as well as a little bit of new material featuring Baldwin and Steve Martin.

Why not devote your life to the art of barbecue? What’s a little extra grease on your skin? This series looks at the people who compete to be the best pitmasters, as they play chef, athlete, and general over wafting smoke and sizzling meat. Tonight, the pitmasters - Myron, Paul, Harry, Tuffy, Johnny, Lee Ann, and Jamie - vie for a $3,000 grand prize at the Riverfest Cookoff in Decatur, Ala.
