CSI: NY 9 p.m., Channel 4

With Melina Kanakaredes leaving the show, Sela Ward has joined up as Jo Danville. That’s a good, eager-and-willing name for an investigator, don’t you think? Ward (pictured) is an actress who usually specializes in prime-time emotionality, as she did on “Sisters’’ and “Once and Again.’’ It will be interesting to see her in the much chillier environment of a “CSI’’ franchise show, dealing with murder victims, nutzoid perps, and chunky scientific lingo.

Boardwalk Empire 9 p.m., HBO

HBO is re-airing the Martin Scorsese-directed premiere of this new show. The first airing of the Prohibition drama, on Sunday, did remarkably well — at 4.8 million viewers, it was HBO’s biggest series premiere since “Deadwood’’ in 2004. Add on the two subsequent airings Sunday night, and that number rises to 7.1 million. Not surprisingly, HBO has already renewed the series for a second season.

Man, Woman, Wild 9 p.m., Discovery Channel

There’s a “Bringing Up Baby’’ joke in there somewhere.

Supernatural 9 p.m., Ch. 56

Sam, baked fresh from the ovens of hell.

Real Time With Bill Maher 10 p.m., HBO

Andrew Breitbart, unedited.

Medium 8 p.m., Channel 4

Bridgette and Allison swap personalities. That’s freaky, and it’s Friday.
