The Fairy Jobmother 11 p.m., Lifetime
There’s something about Brits and the way they end statements with questions, isn’t there? And the more commanding Brits are perfect as reality TV gurus, aren’t they? Boardwalk Empire 10 p.m., HBO2
I’m really loving this show, but I have mixed feelings about the title sequence. It’s evocative, like almost all the other HBO openers (except “Hung’’), as it shows us Nucky in charge of the world. You see gorgeous, moody shots of the ocean and the clouds yoked together with the unnatural imagery of the pasty Steve Buscemi, his cigarette, and his fancy shoes. But the clip — and, in particular, the classic-rock-based music by the Brian Jonestown Massacre — doesn’t match the tone of show at all. And the plethora of bottles are a too-literal reference to Prohibition.
