Did you see last week’s episode, about pre-taping a celebrity benefit for a natural disaster? It was brilliant satire, with Jenna singing a ballad to “Help the people/ the thing that happened/ happened to.’’ It ripped holes in reality TV, celebrity do-goodism, and Mel Gibson, among other targets. Tonight’s episode of this fearless series is about the changeover to Kabletown, mimicking Comcast’s control of NBC Universal. Pictured: Jane Krakowski as Jenna Maroney.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation 9 p.m., Channel 4
Much as I’ve admired this show over the years, I am ready to let go of it. It’s not Laurence Fishburne’s fault; he’s fine as the guy who took over William Petersen’s gravitas position in the cast. The formula of the show has simply run its course; the writers have tapped just about every fetish and perversity and excess to be found in Sin City. Tonight, the show reaches to keep the idea of Gil Grissom in the mix, as his mother, played by Phyllis Frelich, makes a guest appearance. Also, Petersen himself is scheduled to make a cameo this season.
