REIGN OF FIRE (Encore on Comcast) Good, stupid creature-feature fun. It’s the year 2020, fire-breathing dragons have conquered the earth, and it’s up to reluctant hero Christian Bale and crazed Marine Matthew McConaughey to stop them. An uneasy mix of portentuous plot and self-conscious camp, “Fire’’ benefits immensely from McConaughey’s gonzo, star-is-reborn performance. (R; runs through Feb. 17) TY BURR

DANGEROUS GAME (Encore on Comcast) Abel Ferrara’s resolutely anti-commercial movie about making anti-commercial movies. Harvey Keitel is his surrogate, a director trying to stay honest, and Madonna (more relaxed than she’s ever been on screen before) is the actress he hires and then allows to be victimized. In the end, it fails, but the psychodrama often has impact — and you’ve got to like Ferrara’s determination to go with impulse. (R; runs through March 25)

GET SHORTY (Encore on Comcast) Sprightly comedy based on the interchangeability of movie producers and mobsters — smartly written and juicily acted. John Travolta’s comeback express is in high gear as he plays a cool thug who goes to Hollywood to collect on a debt and decides it’s time to change careers. Delicious support from Gene Hackman as a shlockmeister, Rene Russo as a disillusioned scream queen, Danny DeVito as the fickle little megastar of the title and Delroy Lindo as local muscle who also wants into the movie biz. (R; runs through April 22)
