SCARY MOVIE (Showtime on Comcast) There’s nowhere this envelope-pushing gross-out parody won’t go, no taboo or bodily orifice beyond its rude and sometimes very funny reach as it sends up the “Scream’’ movies, “The Matrix,’’ “The Blair Witch Project,’’ and “The Sixth Sense.’’ But there’s also no escaping the fact that this comedy by Keenen Ivory Wayans and his brothers Shawn and Marlon is pretty flimsy. (R; runs through March 8)

SID AND NANCY (Comcast Movies: Free Movies) Alex Cox’s interpretation of the life and hard times of Sid Vicious mixes fantasy, fiction, and reality in equal parts. They should have stuck with the original title, “Love Kills.’’ (R; runs through April 1)

HOWARDS END (Encore on Comcast) The crowning achievement of all filmed E.M. Forster novels, it’s deep, dark, and rich, full of irony and humor and heart — and satisfyingly elliptical enough to be almost mystical as it limns both the collision between a rigid Edwardian family and a free-thinking one and the surprises that await. (PG; runs through April 1)
