Tonight’s episode was written by Carol Leifer, which could be good. She wrote for “Seinfeld’’ and “The Larry Sanders Show,’’ two of the comedy greats. Plus, she was the first person Donald Trump fired on the last installment of “Celebrity Apprentice,’’ definitely a badge of honor. For “Modern Family,’’ she has Phil taking a spa day, Cameron and Mitchell arguing over Lily’s last name, and Jay and Gloria having the casket vs. crypt debate.
